Antony Tortul --- Antony worked in a few regions in the South of France before deciding to work in the very particular way that he does. Antony is a négociant, he buys grapes from various vine-growers in different regions of the Languedoc (and beyond) and vinifies in his cellar in Béziers. He is extremely rigorous in his selection of vineyards and looks for exceptional terroir and of course organic/biodynamic viticulture. He has collected around 40 different vineyards of different terroirs, grape varieties and ages of vine (between 40 and 110) – he produces a lot of different wines - lots, that’s the word. Rather than a geographical location, we are dealing here with a diffuse vineyard, scattered like a puzzle. The result is a dizzying mosaic of lively and witty wines that are reinvented each year with around thirty cuvées per vintage. The plots that he identifies and vinifies are, for example, in Ariège, Gaillac and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, but this great creator of cuvées seems to have a soft spot for Languedoc.
